Kailua Full Moon Concerts is proud to announce Hui o Ko’olaupoko (HOK) as our non-profit partner for the 2013 Kailua Full Moon Concert Series! We are really excited to partner with a local organization that does top quality work and shares the same values of sustainability, community, and education.
Our goal in presenting free concerts is to ensure that EVERYONE can attend. The reality is it does cost money to produce these concerts, and while we have great sponsors, these are fundraising events for Hui o Ko’olaupoko (HOK) and future Kailua Full Moon Concerts. The mission of Kailua-based Hui o Koʻolaupoko is to protect ocean health by restoring theʻaina: mauka to makai. Their brand-new website has detailed information on this great organization and their projects. Local HOK projects you may be familiar with are Kaha Gardens, Popoi’a Street Storm Water Retro-fit (stream bank at Buzz’s parking lot), and He’eia Stream Restoration. Please visit the HOK booths at the Kailua Full Moon Concert for demonstrations, project information, and volunteer opportunities!
If you are supportive of these events and would like to see more of them during summer, please consider our suggested donation of $5 per person for each of the concerts. Your donations ensure HOK can maintain the grant funded projects they complete, as well as raise money for future Kailua Full Moon Concerts.
Tasty food options with be available, both meals and ono kine snacks. Of course, bringing your own picnic has never gone out of style! In the era of sustainability, we’d kindly ask that you “leave no footprints” and take your trash with you.
Attendees are STRONGLY encouraged to walk, run, skip, ride your bike, carpool, take a taxi, or take da bus!
A FREE “bike valet” will be available for those who chose pedal power to get to the concert. Thank you to the Rusty Chain Cyclery in Kailua for handling the FREE bike valet. All bikes MUST be parked in bicycle racks or at the FREE bike valet. Please DO NOT lean or lock your bikes to trees.
Blankets and low-sitting beach chairs are permitted, please NO pop-up tents, NO dogs, NO bbq’s and NO ALCOHOL. Our intent with these events is to build community, so we encourage you to share the space and make a new friend! No chairs will be provided.
Parking is available at Kailua District Park on Kainalu Rd side, Kailua Elementary School, Kailua Intermediate school, Kailua Library, and the public streets surrounding the park. Please do not block driveways, please do not park on grass without permission, and please be respectful of the surrounding neighborhoods. If possible, avoid parking in residential neighborhoods!
